January 10, 2006 : The New Moon in Aquarius is a powerful time for group work. Aquarius is the eleventh sign and rules the eleventh house in the astrology chart. The eleventh house is the segment in a chart that rules large groups, organizations, friends and goals. Aquarius is ruled by two planets, Saturn, planet of discipline and Uranus, planet of intuition, freedom, unusual and unpredictable experiences. In her book, Astrology A Cosmic Science, Isabel Hickey explains that freedom (Uranus) without discipline (Saturn) is license. The message is, first understandthe rules and then creatively learn to move beyond that structure. “Think outside the box” is another way of putting how we should be using the Aquarian energy.
This New Moon, which simply means the Sun and Moon have joined together is the real start of the New Year. When the New Year happened on Jan. 1st, many of my clients complained of feeling stuck in situations, and many were taking care of unfinished business or projects. That could be explained because Venus, planet of love and creativity was going retrograde in Capricorn and the feeling of going backwards was literally “in the air”.
The New Moon in Aquarius connects with Neptune, planet of visions and dreams which has been in Aquarius since 1998 and will be there until 2012. This cosmic trio can boost your spiritual energies, lifting you from where you are to where you want to be. It is a good day to pray, meditate and reflect. On this day try to stay connected with your High Self and as always...”think what you want, but want what you think.”
Saturn will be opposing the New Moon/Neptune connection from Leo. Saturn, planet of discipline has been in Leo since July 2005 and will be there until Sept. 2007. Oppositions when used from the highest perspective create awareness. So while you’re
feeling all light and airy the Saturn influence will keep you grounded in reality. The visualization that comes to mind is an helium inflated balloon being held by a string that in your hand. It will float and move in the wind, but you’re the one in control...unless you decide to let it go. Another visualization is to put your goals for the future (in your imagination) in the balloon and then purposely release it into the air. That’s a good one!
Jupiter, planet of expansion and joy is in Scorpio the sign of desire (and healing), and will be there until Nov. 24, 2006. Jupiter in Scorpio increases the desire and motivates us to lighten up while intentionally focusing on what we want. Jupiter will be forming a 90 degree angle to the New Moon/Neptune combo. Wowee! Jupiter in Scorpio also increases the power to heal, ourselves and others. The dynamic energy of the square aspect between the New Moon/Neptune and Jupiter, with the grounding factor of Saturn, is a good mix of energies. Jupiter always insists that we do things in a joyful way. While everything is serious these days, be sure to tap into the Jupiter energy that says everything is in Divine Right Order, and to laugh and have fun using the gifts that we were born with.
Last but now least, is Mars in Taurus...yessss, Mars is still in Taurus, as it entered the sign in July and will be there until Feb. 16, 2006. It’s actually in the last days of a seven month transit. Mars in the money sign, has brought up financial issues for lots of people. But as my teacher Isabel Hickey would say what comes up can be healed. It’s better out, than in. If you’ve been dealing with money issues...that’s a good thing. Whatever came up, came up for a healing...do you understand? If the only thing you’ve learned in these past months is that you need to make more money, that’s a good thing. Don’t get stuck in the blame or shame game where money is concerned. That will only prevent you from opening up to Divine Inspiration (Neptune) that will show you how to rise above your present circumstances. Keep your emotions in balance. A sad side note. In NYC we
witnessed the murder of an angel. That was Mars opposing Scorpio in the worse sense. A demon spirit that was around for a long time (the step father) tapped into the negative energy from Mars/Jupiter, lost his temper and wasn’t able to pull it back. Everything happens on this physical plane for a reason. How did you feel when you heard the news? What did it make you do. Did you get stuck in blaming and shaming? Have you every suspected or heard a child being abused and sat silently not wanted to interfere? What do you think that God wants you to do about this specific situation? Because the truth is, there are others out there being abused on a daily level. If the only thing you can do is pick up the phone and call the authorities, you could save a little ones life...they’ve made it easy for you cause you don’t have to give them your name. Or are you the abuser? Do you think hitting a child is the right thing to do? Do you need some parenting classes or to find another way to teach a child? Would you want someone to hit you every time you made a mistake or disobeyed your inner voice? Think about it. If the only thing you do is send a prayer of love and light...do that. Also forgive yourself for past mistakes or any guilt that might be hanging around in your subconscious mind for the things you did when your consciousness was on the lower levels.
So, as the astrologers among us know, the New Moon in Aquarius is a part of a grand square in fixed signs. There is a square between the New Moon/Neptune, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars. With oppositions between Jupiter/Mars and Saturn/Neptune and New Moon. Let’s use this powerful energy to our benefit. The stars don’t control us, only inspire us. There will be wacky weather...so what else is new? Be flexible and grateful to be alive, laugh more have fun with your inner child or physical children.
THE CHINESE YEAR OF THE DOG
My knowledge of Chinese astrology is limited...but I thought I’d pass on what I know. It’s the Chinese New Year. Many Chinese people and folks who follow the new year will be passing out little red envelopes with money in it. Primarily to children and single adults ... (I think). Prosperity works on the principle of giving and receiving, so I think it’s a nice idea. What you give out will return. We just finished up the year of the Rooster, and now we’re moving into the year of the Dog. While the Rooster corresponded with the astrological sign of Virgo, the Dog corresponds to the sign of Libra. Sharing the last paragraph in my book on Chinese astrology regarding the year of the Dog...”The Dog’s year will lend integrity to our intentions and make us act in good faith. Nothing should concern us so long as we stick to the righteous path” They do say that people will be fighting over ideologies, while some will go on crusade against injustice and tyranny during the year of the Dog. I say if you’re moving from your heart center in all things, you won’t have to be concerned about what else is happening in the world. Be the witness and act on what the inner voice tells you.
Love & Light, Ayesha
